"THIS LIST PUT TOGETHER CIRCA 1998 BY TOM YOUNG AND BOB BECKER AND 1-2 MORE GUYS" (Jim Pattillo)

(2 digits ahead of dash in aircraft serial number indicates year in which Air Corps contracted for an airplane--e.g., "42-" = 1942).   Original aircraft compliment had 2-gun Upper Forward turrets, but no Center Wing Tanks, so were retired as rapidly as possible.

792nd Bomb Squadron (46 aircraft)

Operated from:

  • Kharagpur, India (B-1) and Pengshan, China (A-7) from May 1944 to May 1945
  • West Field, Tinian from May 1945 to the war's end
